Long exposure sunset – Portishead Point Lighthouse

My favourite shot to date, I think…

portishead 1
Settings: 18mm – f/3.5 – ISO200 – 79sec. 10 stop filter.

portishead 2

Another glorious night. The sky took on a glorious pink tinge (see right – unedited short exposure shot), which I was able to spread out with the 10 stop filter. Part of the long exposure adventure has really been seeing what it does to skies as much as to water – water is quite predictable. I wasn’t expecting the sky to twist as it does, so that the pink colour envelopes the light from the sun in the middle. Totally hooked on long exposure now. More to come, I am sure.

Just on the same shoot, another long exposure of just the lighthouse, from the other side…

portishead 3
Settings: 55mm – f/7.1 – ISO400 – 15sec. 3 stop filter.
