OK, so first real trip outside of my local area with the camera – to the Peak District. First stop: Kinder Scout. This trip ended up being more a lesson in planning and timing over photography. By the time I arrived, and took a very strange wrong turn on the way up, by the time I reached the summit it was getting pretty late. I managed to grab this shot, using some rocks as a foreground interest.
Settings: 18mm – f/11 – ISO400 – 1/500sec. No filter.
I quite like this shot, but it is more about composition than settings technique. I actually think I ended up taking this on auto, as time was getting tight for getting back down at a reasonable time, and my own attempts to use manual settings were pretty dire.
Definitely one of those occasions where you have to be happy to have seen a new place, and target it for a return at some point.
